How Does Airbrush Tanning (a.k.a. Body Bronzing) work? The active ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHA was approved by the FDA in 1973), reacts with the amino acids (keratin proteins) in the Corneum Stratum, the outermost "dead" layer of your skin. The bronzing reaction takes five to seven hours to emerge. It continues to deepen over that time frame and lasts for about a week. There are no long term ultra-violet carcinogenic dangers associated with tanning beds and the sun. This healthy tan goes beautifully over an existing tan and can even out or eliminate any tan lines, if you wish. To prepare for tanning, you must:

• Exfoliate
• Wear dark colored bathing suit or undergarments
• Be free of body lotions and make-up
• Bring loose clothing to put on after you tan

Immediately after you tan, avoid:

• Showering – wait at least 5 hours.
• Excessive sweating can cause tan to discolor
• Alpha hydroxy products
